THAT IT HAS BEEN SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2003
ASCAP FOUNDATION MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP, NYC
DIRECTED BY AWARD-WINNING COMPOSER & LYRICIST
STEPHEN SCHWARTZ

New York, NY -- One of only five projects selected out of over a hundred projects submitted, The Blue Flower will give two reading presentations before distinguished panelists and a live audience on March 18 and April 8, 2003. The presentations will be followed by an open critique from the panelists. In addition to STEPHEN SCHWARTZ, panelists this year for The Blue Flower presentations will be M ARK HOLLMANN (music/lyrics, Urinetown), STUART ROSS (book, Radiant Baby, Forever Plaid), SUE FROST (Assoc. Producer, Goodspeed Musicals and President, The National Alliance for Musical Theatre), GREG KOTIS (book/lyrics, Urinetown), and STEVEN SPIEGEL (agent, William Morris Agency, and former President of Musical Theater International).

The first Blue Flower presentation will be a 25-minute excerpt given on March 18, and the second a 45-minute excerpt given on April 8th. Both presentations will be at 7:00 pm on the 5th floor of the ASCAP Building, One Lincoln Plaza, NYC (b/w 63rd & 64th, across from Lincoln Center).

The annual workshop, a companion to a similar ASCAP workshop given in Los Angeles in partnership with the Walt Disney Company, has been held for 17 years and is currently under the direction of Academy award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz (Pippin, Godspell, The Baker's Wife, Children of Eden, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt), who for many years in many different ways has given generously of his experience and talent to help nurture new artists and new projects.
